Vestas, a global leader in wind energy solutions, is celebrating its substantial $40 million investment in two manufacturing facilities in Colorado, a move set to generate up to 1000 jobs in the clean energy sector.
To commemorate this significant investment in the Brighton Nacelles and Windsor Blades factories in the state, Vestas hosted a special event attended by Governor Jared Polis, the American Clean Power Association (ACP), and Xcel Energy.
This substantial financial commitment will provide the necessary infrastructure to produce Vestas' latest turbine model, the V163-4.5MW, specifically designed for the US market. Engineered for optimal performance in low to medium wind speeds, the V163-4.5MW turbine aims to maximize annual energy production and accelerate the transition to clean energy in the United States.

Vestas recently announced a contract to supply 94 V163-4.5MW turbines for a 423MW project, with all turbines to be manufactured and supplied from its Colorado factories.
Laura Beane, President of Vestas Americas, highlighted the significance of this investment, stating, “This major investment not only demonstrates our commitment to Colorado but also our commitment to expanding clean energy across the United States.” She added, “Our vision of expanding our major, local manufacturing hub and bringing economic growth to the region is becoming a reality as we deliver the next generation wind turbine for the US market.”
Beane also acknowledged the positive impact of the Inflation Reduction Act in bolstering the domestic supply chain and revitalizing the renewable energy sector.
In addition to hiring between 800 to 1000 local employees to support manufacturing at the blades and nacelle factories, Vestas intends to collaborate with local high schools to educate students about clean energy job opportunities through its apprenticeship program.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis expressed his pride in the state's leadership in wind energy, with nearly 30% of its energy originating from wind production. He noted, “We've come this far by making bold investments in the clean energy sector with partners like Vestas.”
Vestas initially established its presence in Colorado in 2007, and with 1.4GW of Vestas wind turbines currently in operation across the state, the company has invested over $465 million in 182 local suppliers. The expansion of manufacturing facilities, combined with ongoing operations, will continue to create local construction jobs and enhance opportunities in the region.
