Amprion's extensive extra-high voltage network spans a colossal 11,000 kilometers, traversing from the northern region of Lower Saxony to the majestic Alps in the south. This vast expanse encompasses nearly one-third of Germany's economic output, underscoring the critical importance of this network to the nation's industrial and economic landscape.
The delivery timeline for these power transformers is slated between 2025 and 2027, marking a strategic step towards enhancing the grid's capabilities and ensuring its resilience in the face of evolving energy demands.
Philippe Piron, the President and Chief Executive of GE Vernova's Grid Solutions business, underscored the significance of this partnership in the context of the burgeoning transition to renewable energy sources. He articulated, “As utilities transition to renewable energy sources, electrical transmission grid operators continue to face increasing demand and complexity. Today's transmission systems are expected to carry bulk power in ways they never originally were designed to accommodate. We are proud to support Amprion, a long-time valued GE Vernova customer, to reinforce its 400kV electrical grid. Our advanced power transformers will help it increase capacity and maintain stability on its network.”
