Engie Teams Up with Air France and CMA CGM for Green Energy Projects in France

In a bid to support 's commitment to green energy and reduce carbon emissions, , the renowned energy provider, has announced strategic partnerships with and on two groundbreaking projects. The initiatives aim to foster the development of alternative industrial fuels with a focus on renewable and low-carbon solutions.

Haropa Port, France's leading port complex, has generously allocated 24 hectares of land to Engie for the implementation of these projects, as stated in an official press release by the company.

The first project, named “,” is a joint effort between Engie and Marseille-based transportation giant CMA-CGM. Salamandre aims to pioneer the production of renewable and low-carbon gas specifically tailored for sea transportation. Utilizing cutting-edge pyrogasification and methanation technologies, it will mark the world's first-ever renewable gas production unit designed to meet the energy needs of the maritime industry.

Simultaneously, Engie is spearheading a feasibility study in collaboration with Air France-KLM for the establishment of an e-kerosene production unit. The proposed unit seeks to produce environmentally friendly kerosene for aviation purposes. Upon successful implementation, Air France-KLM would become the primary beneficiary, demonstrating their commitment to greener air travel.

Both projects are scheduled to reach their final investment decisions by 2024, paving the way for the commencement of construction. Salamandre is anticipated to break ground in the same year, while construction for the France KerEAUzen project is planned to begin in 2026, following the final investment decision in 2025.
