Enel, the renowned utility company, has recently announced a groundbreaking 15-year solar virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with SKF, a leading bearing manufacturer in Spain.
Under the terms of this landmark agreement, SKF will procure guarantees of origin for approximately one-third of its electricity consumption across Europe, specifically for the year 2022. These guarantees will be sourced from a forthcoming solar facility developed by Enel.
Anticipated to commence operations by August 2024, the solar plant is projected to produce a substantial 260GWh of clean electricity annually. Once connected to the grid, it will significantly contribute to Spain's renewable energy capacity.
Joakim Landholm, SKF's Chief Sustainability Officer and Senior Vice President, expressed his enthusiasm for this pivotal collaboration, stating, “This agreement represents a crucial stride forward in our strategic efforts. It also serves as a testament to our unwavering dedication to the cleantech sector and our steadfast support for the renewable energy industry's expansion. By working collaboratively with others, we can genuinely make a positive impact in attaining a sustainable future.”
