Siemens Gamesa, a wind turbine manufacturer, unveiled its latest turbine model, the SG 4.4-164, specifically designed for the US market. The company introduced the turbine at the ACP CLEANPOWER conference, highlighting its high-capacity factor and improved features based on their extensive experience in wind turbine development.
By incorporating advancements from previous successful models, Siemens Gamesa aims to enhance performance while reducing costs and simplifying construction processes. The SG 4.4-164 is expected to be operational for commercial projects by 2025, offering an efficient solution for renewable energy generation.

To support production, Siemens Gamesa will utilize its blade facility in Fort Madison, Iowa, and nacelle assembly facility in Hutchinson, Kansas. The design team based in Boulder, Colorado, contributed to the development of the turbine's 81-meter blades, ensuring optimal performance in diverse wind conditions across the country.
Shannon Sturgil, the Chief Executive for Onshore North America at Siemens Gamesa, emphasized the turbine's suitability for the vast and varied US landscape. Factors such as transportation logistics, different wind patterns, regional noise regulations, electrical infrastructure, and power delivery requirements were all considered during the design process. Sturgil stated, “This is truly an onshore wind turbine designed for America.”
Siemens Gamesa's launch of the SG 4.4-164 marks another step forward in renewable energy technology, furthering the company's commitment to sustainable power generation in the United States.
