Skyborn Renewables, the offshore wind platform launched by global infrastructure investor GIP, has announced the appointment of a new chief financial officer (CFO) and a new chief investment officer (CInO). The developer's CEO, Thomas Karst, welcomed Willem Mentz as the new CFO and Bill Gutterman as the new CInO, both set to take up their roles from May 15th, 2023.
Mentz and Gutterman are joining Skyborn with extensive experience in finance and investments. They are set to replace João Metelo, who holds the position of chief investment and financial officer, and has decided to exit Skyborn.
Karst praised Metelo for his contributions to building Skyborn, stating that his dedication and hard work had been instrumental to the company's success. Meanwhile, Karst expressed his excitement about the new appointments, saying they will help Skyborn deliver on its strategic objectives and become a leading offshore wind platform, contributing to the global energy transition.
Skyborn Renewables was launched by GIP in September 2022, following the acquisition of WPD's offshore wind business in September of the previous year. The company's mission is to help accelerate the energy transition by harnessing the power of offshore wind. With the addition of Mentz and Gutterman to its executive team, Skyborn is poised to take its next steps toward that goal.
