Vissim's marine optimization software is currently being implemented at 21 offshore wind farms across several countries, including England, , , France, and Japan, with a total wind power capacity of 13GW.

Marine optimization software systems aim to help developers and operators minimize construction and operating risk, while also lowering costs and reducing environmental footprints. By taking external factors such as weather and wave height into account, these systems enable optimal use of personnel, vessels, and other assets.

“Our software and turnkey sensor solutions are designed to minimize project execution risk and to make wind farm operations more cost-efficient, both in the development and O&M phases,” said Dent.

Vissim's software combines input from various data sources, including maritime surveillance systems, radio communication, vessel traffic management, and people management, to create a real-time overview of all marine assets. The company's resource database also includes more than 25,000 technicians, allowing developers and operators to automate certification, induction, and permitting processes.

“We believe developers and operators of offshore wind farms can run a more cost-efficient operations if they take an even more standardized approach to marine management services across wind farms worldwide,” said Vissim chief executive Per Henæs. “We will definitely consider further acquisitions in order to support such an approach.”

Vissim's UK operations will remain located in Diss, Norfolk, UK. The financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

With the acquisition of Nesspoint, Vissim is set to further expand its offerings in the field of marine optimization for offshore wind farms, helping developers and operators to minimize risk, lower costs, and reduce their environmental footprints.
