Orsted and Eversource, two of the leading offshore wind companies in the United States, have marked a significant milestone in the construction of their Revolution Wind project. The companies have begun assembling advanced foundation components for the wind turbines at their offshore wind construction hub in Rhode Island. The work underway at ProvPort represents a more than $100 million investment in Rhode Island and is expected to create numerous job opportunities.
To celebrate the occasion, Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner, and Providence Mayor Brett Smiley joined Orsted and Eversource at the ProvPort offshore wind construction hub. The event also celebrated the successful completion of South Fork Wind's components.
Rhode Island has emerged as a national leader in offshore wind, and the successful completion of the Revolution Wind project will further strengthen its position in the industry. The state has abundant natural resources, and offshore wind has become a key component of its economic growth and emissions reduction strategies.
