Bloom Energy Makes European Market Entry with Hydrogen-Fuelled SOFCs in Belgium

Bloom Energy, a US-based provider of clean energy solutions, has announced its entry into the northern European market through a sales agreement with Latvian-headquartered . Under the agreement, Bloom Energy will provide a total of 9.75MW of power from its hydrogen-fuelled Bloom Energy Server® to five commercial, industrial, and data center sites in . The delivery of solid-oxide fuel cell (SOFC) platforms is expected to take place later this year and early 2024.

This agreement marks a significant milestone in Bloom Energy's European expansion efforts, following its earlier announcement to enter the Spanish and Portuguese markets under a partnership with Telam. Bloom Energy's solid-oxide fuel cells have also been chosen to be installed at Ferrari's Maranello factory in Italy.

“This is a big win in support of our focus to build international business sales,” said Tim Schweikert, Senior Managing Director of International Business Development at Bloom Energy. “We look forward to Elugie's work in Belgium and the many markets it serves.”

, founder of Elugie, expressed his pride in developing opportunities with Bloom Energy for a total capacity of 9.75MW in Belgium. He added, “This partnership will bring utility-scale clean solutions to critical customers in the country.”

In addition to the initial agreement, Elugie and Bloom Energy are exploring the possibility of deploying the hydrogen-producing Bloom Electrolyser™ and supplying other SOFC solutions to sites in the , Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
