Northern Offshore Services (NOS) has announced its latest move to meet the offshore wind industry's demand for sustainable solutions with the order of two next-generation crew transfer vessels (CTVs). The new vessels, set to be delivered in 2024, will form part of NOS' newbuilding and conversion programme and will be part of a new class of NOS-designed CTVs called the I-Class.
The I-Class vessels will build on NOS' experience designing CTVs and will incorporate green technology solutions to ensure future demands are met. These vessels will be equipped with the latest low-emission engine technology, making them capable of operating in hybrid or fully electric mode during transit and docking.

We have high expectations for the new series of vessels. At Northern Offshore Services, we set the standards and lead the way for a greener, more sustainable industry.”
The I-Class vessels are a significant milestone in NOS' commitment to creating sustainable solutions for the offshore wind industry. As the industry continues to grow and demand for sustainable solutions increases, NOS is positioning itself to be at the forefront of this development.
“We're thrilled to be introducing this new class of CTVs,” said a spokesperson for NOS. “Our commitment to sustainability is at the core of everything we do, and we're confident that the I-Class vessels will meet the demands of the offshore wind industry, both now and in the future.”
The order for the new vessels comes at a time when the offshore wind industry is experiencing significant growth. With an increasing demand for renewable energy sources, NOS is poised to play a critical role in ensuring that the industry meets its sustainability targets. As the industry continues to evolve, NOS will continue to invest in the development of new and innovative solutions that meet the needs of the offshore wind sector.
“We're excited about the future of the offshore wind industry,” said the NOS spokesperson. “We believe that sustainable solutions are the key to unlocking the potential of this sector, and we're committed to doing our part to make that happen.”
