Valmet and Greenalia sign service agreement to improve performance of biomass plant in Spain

Finnish engineering company Valmet and Spanish energy firm Power Curtis-Teixeiro S.L.U have inked a three-year service agreement to boost the performance of Greenalia's Curtis-Teixeiro biomass plant in . The deal was included in Valmet's Q1 2023 orders and is effective immediately. While the value of the agreement has not been disclosed, its aim is to increase the availability and capacity of the plant and improve its environmental performance by controlling emissions.

Greenalia currently operates a 50 MWe biomass-fired bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) power boiler plant in Curtis-Teixeiro, which was supplied by Valmet in 2020. The service agreement seeks to achieve maximum boiler efficiency and availability through green energy generation, contributing to the fight against climate change.

According to , Plant Manager at Greenalia, “For Greenalia, the objective with the signing of this agreement is to achieve the highest possible boiler efficiency and availability through totally green energy generation, contributing to the fight against climate change.”

, Service Sales Manager, EMEA, Valmet said, “For Valmet, the recently signed service agreement gives the possibility to continue the successful collaboration with Greenalia. We will do our best to support the customer on their journey towards improved performance and the company's ultimate goal, tackling the climate change through clean energy.”

Under the agreement, Valmet will provide support in the overall development of the plant and spare parts management, as well as Valmet Performance Center services like KPI monitoring, on-demand remote expert support, performance evaluation, and reporting. The deal also includes a condition assessment of the boiler and its pressure parts, fuel feeding, and ash-handling systems.

Greenalia is an energy company in Spain that produces electricity using exclusively renewable sources, such as wind, sun, and forest biomass from certified plantations.
