Vattenfall, a leading European energy company, has reached a major milestone in its largest onshore development in the UK, the 240MW South Kyle Wind Farm in Scotland. The fiftieth and final turbine, Turbine H04, has been successfully installed, marking the end of the 11-month installation programme.
The installation of the turbine's three 64-metre blades was the culmination of an extensive project that saw 450 major components individually transported from Ayr and Glasgow to the site southeast of Dalmellington for assembly and installation. The commissioning and testing phase is currently underway, and the wind farm is expected to be fully operational over the summer months.

Paul Nickless, Vattenfall's project director for South Kyle, expressed his delight at the achievement and extended his gratitude to his colleagues, suppliers, and partners who have worked tirelessly to reach this milestone. He emphasized that the progress at South Kyle means that several turbines are already generating clean and green power for the national grid, powering homes, businesses, and organizations across the country. This development takes us one step closer to achieving our goals of net zero and achieving a fossil fuel-free future.
The South Kyle Wind Farm is a significant development in Scotland, and its completion will be a major achievement for Vattenfall. With the final turbine installation complete, the project is entering its final testing and commissioning phase. This marks a significant step towards the UK's clean energy targets and is a great example of how wind energy can play a vital role in reducing carbon emissions and creating a sustainable future.
