DNV has recently released an updated version of its service specification for project certification, DNV-SE-0190, which includes an appendix for energy islands and offshore wind farms in Poland. This is the first document in the world that addresses the certification of these types of projects in Poland.
Poland has ambitious plans for the rapid growth of offshore wind and has recently published its own Maritime Safety Act, which outlines country-specific certification requirements. DNV's updated service specification combines these requirements with international best practices for certifying offshore wind power plants in Poland.

Kim Sandgaard-Mørk, Executive Vice President for Renewables Certification at DNV, explains that the industry had a strong need for a service specification that addresses both of these topics. By providing certification to international standards, DNV aims to support its customers in meeting their offshore wind growth targets in a safe and reliable way. Certification is one of the most widely accepted risk management tools in the world, and independent evaluation is crucial to proving the state-of-the-art level of safety, quality, and reliability for offshore wind assets.
DNV's Director of Service Area Renewables Certification, Fabio Pollicino, adds that the company's Committee of Experts, which includes external industry members, ensures that DNV's services are adjusted to market needs based on the latest experiences, technologies, and lessons learned from offshore projects worldwide. The guideline for energy islands and offshore wind farms in Poland will benefit multiple stakeholders by providing transparency and supporting a faster energy transition.
