OX2, a leading Nordic renewable energy company, has recently announced its acquisition of the project rights to a new solar power project in Huittinen, Finland. The project, which is being developed by Finnish solar power developer SAJM Holding Oy, is planned to have a capacity of 475 MW, making it one of the largest solar farms in the country.
According to OX2, the Huittinen solar farm is currently in the mid-stage of development and is expected to be included in the company's project development portfolio for the second quarter of 2023. The company plans to submit the necessary permits and environmental impact assessment for the project during the same year.
Once completed, the Huittinen solar farm is expected to produce around 475 GWh of energy annually, which is equivalent to the electricity consumption of about 95,000 households (assuming an average consumption of 5000 kWh per household). This could make a significant contribution towards emissions-free electricity in Finland.

In addition to the Huittinen project, OX2 has two other solar power projects in its portfolio in Finland, located in Kauhajoki and Loimaa. The company has been developing solar power projects since 2018 and aims to have a total of about 4 GW of solar power in its project development portfolio by the end of 2022.
Overall, OX2's acquisition of the Huittinen solar power project is a promising development for Finland's renewable energy sector and could help the country achieve its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2035.
