Eurus Energy UK has acquired a stake in the 100MW Pentland floating offshore wind farm, developed by Highland Wind Limited, though the size of the stake remains undisclosed.
The majority ownership of the project rests with Flagship Funds, managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, while Hexicon A/B holds a minority share.
Pentland, located 7.5 km off the coast of Dounreay in Caithness, received approval earlier this year for its offshore consents application from the Scottish Minister. This followed adjustments including a reduction in the number of turbines and the project's footprint, aimed at enhancing environmental compatibility.
“This investment is a key milestone for the project and, now that we have all key development requirements in place, we are ready to move forward,” stated project director Richard Copeland.
The floating wind farm, boasting a capacity of 100MW, is expected to operate for 25 years, contributing to Scotland's renewable energy goals.
