Vestas Wind Systems A/S has confirmed a definitive order to supply turbines for the 660-MW Section A of RWE AG's Nordseecluster offshore wind project in German waters.
The manufacturer announced that its V236-15.0 MW turbines have been selected for Nordseecluster A. Vestas will oversee the delivery and commissioning of 44 turbines, scheduled for completion in 2026. The scope of work also includes a five-year service agreement with subsequent operational support.
Located approximately 50 km north of Juist island in the North Sea, RWE's Nordseecluster complex will commence construction of its first phase, Nordseecluster A, in 2025. Turbine grid connection is expected by early 2027. Nordseecluster B, expanding the capacity by an additional 900 MW, is slated to begin commercial operations from early 2029.
Under a conditional agreement, Vestas and RWE are also negotiating the supply of 60 V236-15.0 MW turbines for Nordseecluster B.
