Genneia, an Argentine power company, revealed plans on Monday to invest USD 250 million (EUR 232.8 million) in constructing two significant solar farms in Mendoza, situated in western central Argentina. This investment aims to expand Genneia's current renewable energy capacity, which already includes 1,004 MW from operational wind and solar projects.
The projects, totaling 273 MW in combined capacity, mark Mendoza's inaugural large-scale solar ventures, complementing the province's strategy to diversify energy production alongside its mining sector development efforts.
One of the solar farms, located in Malargue, will receive USD 90 million for the construction of a 93-MW facility spanning 312 hectares (771 acres) and housing over 160,000 solar modules. The second project, Anchoris in Lujan de Cuyo, will require USD 160 million to develop its 180-MW capacity, covering 395 hectares with nearly 360,000 solar modules.
