Vestas, a prominent Danish manufacturer, has achieved a significant milestone with the finalization of its flagship V236-15.0MW offshore turbine installation at the Port of Thyboron, located in north-west Denmark.
In a statement, the company expressed its satisfaction, stating, “Today, the turbine successfully produced its first kWh of power – a crucial step in our final verification campaign. We are ramping up serial production before starting the installation of the first offshore projects featuring the V236-15.0 MW turbine.”
The installation follows the announcement of the order in March, which also encompasses a 20-year AOM4000 service agreement.
Prior to this installation, Vestas had deployed a prototype of the turbine at the Osterild National test center in Denmark. Firm orders for units for offshore projects in Germany, Poland, and the Netherlands have been secured by the company. Installation of the first turbines offshore is scheduled to commence from 2025.
