TeamLease Services announced a substantial increase in employment within India's renewable energy sector on World Environment Day, unveiling a remarkable 23.7% growth in job opportunities during FY24. This surge marks a significant rise from the 8.5% growth observed in FY23, signaling the expanding footprint of the sector in India's employment scenario.
The report emphasizes the growing demand for jobs in tier II and III cities, pivotal centers for renewable energy initiatives. Key roles such as solar PV and wind turbine technicians, installers, roofers, production operators, storage operators, and waste management specialists are experiencing heightened demand.
Subburathinam P., CSO Staffing at TeamLease Services, highlighted the positive trend, stating, “This surge underscores the sector's expanding role in India's employment landscape and its contribution to building a resilient workforce.” He noted a decline in attrition rates, which decreased to 33.5% in FY24 from 38.8% in FY23, indicating improved job satisfaction and stability.
Kartik Narayan, CEO of Staffing at TeamLease Services, reflected on the industry's progress, noting the correlation between job growth and reduced attrition. He emphasized the sector's role in fostering an environment conducive to talent development, thereby contributing to a sustainable future.
The report also delves into the educational qualifications of the renewable energy workforce, revealing a diverse educational background. Approximately 22.9% of employees have completed secondary education, while 73% hold ITI diplomas or graduation degrees, and 4.1% possess postgraduate degrees. This educational diversity underscores the sector's inclusive hiring practices.
