Ameren Corporation's Missouri-based electric and gas service division is set to construct a new solar park as part of its community solar programme, aiming to meet the growing demand from customers seeking to embrace green energy.
Announced on Wednesday, the upcoming photovoltaic (PV) park, named the New Florence Community Solar Centre, will complement an existing solar plant operated by the company in New Florence. With a planned capacity of 7 MW, it will mark the third PV farm developed under the community solar initiative since its inception.
Pending approval from the Missouri Public Service Commission, the project is slated to commence construction as early as the spring of 2025, with operations expected to commence in 2026.
Currently, Ameren Missouri's customers have subscribed for over 80% of the PV park's output, indicating strong interest in community solar participation.
Aligned with Ameren's broader commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045, the Missouri arm aims to add 2.8 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. In April, Ameren Missouri received approval to develop or acquire 400 MW of solar energy capacity, slated for commissioning in 2025 and 2026.
