French renewable energy company Voltalia SA announced that its subsidiary, Helexia, has initiated the construction of rooftop solar power systems in Portugal, boasting a combined capacity of 2 MW for renowned French home furnishings retailer Leroy Merlin.
The latest development marks a significant achievement for Voltalia, whose aggregate power capacity now exceeds 3 GW, encompassing operational facilities and those currently under construction.
“I am very pleased to announce that we have exceeded 3 GW of capacity in operation and under construction. Crossing this threshold confirms the target we have set ourselves for 2024, i.e. around 3.3 GW in operation and construction, including around 2.5 GW in operation,” stated Sebastien Clerc, CEO of Voltalia.
Looking ahead, Voltalia has set its sights on surpassing 5 GW of total capacity by 2027, including notable projects such as the 130-MW Gafsa solar endeavor in Tunisia and the implementation of 550 MW of storage capacity in Uzbekistan.
