Alight, a prominent developer and operator of solar parks in the Nordic countries, is set to establish a 45MW solar park named Aurinkopuisto in Metsäkulma, Salo, Finland.
The solar park will span approximately 60 hectares in Kisko and is part of Alight's commitment to expanding clean energy infrastructure in the region. The company recently conducted a community consultation to gather feedback from local residents and stakeholders, signaling its dedication to engaging with the community throughout the project's development.
Warren Campbell, Vice President of Alight, highlighted the company's extensive experience in developing and operating solar energy projects in the Nordic region. He stated, “We are happy to be able to bring this know-how to Salo as well, where we want to be a long-term owner of the park, create strong ties to the community and manage the land we use responsibly.”
Alight's business model involves developing and operating solar parks in Sweden and Finland, with a focus on selling clean electricity to energy-intensive companies through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). This model ensures affordable and predictable electricity prices for buyers while ensuring the financial sustainability of the solar park.
The company has already engaged in discussions with companies interested in renewable energy, and further negotiations will take place as the construction of the Salo solar park progresses. Construction of Aurinkopuisto is scheduled to commence in 2025, with the park expected to be operational by 2026.
