SK Eco Plant, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, has recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
The agreement entails the manufacturing, transportation, and installation of the substructure for a substantial 1500MW floating offshore wind project in Ulsan, South Korea.
Under this MoU, SK Eco Plant is set to leverage its subsidiary, SK Ocean Plant, to synergize operations in the endeavor. SK Ocean Plant is gearing up by establishing a dedicated production base aimed at specializing in the manufacturing of floating bodies, which will bolster its overall capacity for offshore wind power structures, including jackets and floaters.
Seung-cheol Lee, CEO of SK Ocean Plant, expressed optimism regarding the prospects of the partnership, stating, “The domestic and overseas floating offshore wind power market is expected to expand significantly after 2027 when the new production base is completed.” He further emphasized their commitment to becoming a global leader in both offshore wind structures and floating bodies.
