SEB Nordic Energy, a subsidiary of the Swedish financial group Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB, unveiled its latest investments, including a hybrid wind and solar park in Finland and a significant hydropower portfolio in Norway.
The Finnish venture marks the company's debut in the country and its first foray into hybrid technology. The site, boasting an annual output of 17 GWh, is situated near the southern town of Fredrikshamn.
Meanwhile, the acquisition in Norway comprises seven operational hydropower plants, along with 20 facilities either under construction or in advanced development stages. These assets are spread across various electricity price areas in Norway.
According to a press statement, these investments, facilitated through SEB Nordic Energy's portfolio company Locus Energy AB, position the company as one of the largest private owners of small-scale hydropower in the Nordic region. They significantly bolster its presence in the Nordics, complementing existing investments in Sweden.
SEB Nordic Energy, established as a new fund in April 2023, focuses on a range of renewable energy sectors, including geothermal energy systems, hydropower plants, solar and wind energy, as well as cogeneration and energy efficiency initiatives.
