Italian renewable energy producer Alerion Clean Power SpA has received regulatory approval to construct two wind farms in Romania, further solidifying its presence in the country's renewable energy landscape.
The proposed wind farms, to be situated in the Dobrogea region of southeastern Romania, are slated to contribute 220 MW of power generation capacity, as announced by the Italian company on Monday. Part of a larger complex comprising three wind farms, the two installations will collectively boast a capacity of 336 MW.
With capacities of 114 MW and 108 MW respectively, the wind farms are earmarked for the municipalities of Crucea, Saraiu, and Vulturu, with an anticipated operational timeline set for 2027.
Alerion Clean Power has already initiated preliminary work on the executive design of the wind parks and a 400/110-kV network station. The company anticipates securing authorization for the construction of the third project within its portfolio by the conclusion of this year.
Upon completion, the trio of wind parks is projected to yield an annual output of 1,100 GWh, with an estimated annual gross operating margin of approximately EUR 85 million (USD 92 million), signaling a significant boost to Alerion's renewable energy revenue stream.
