British solar and storage developer Elgin Energy has achieved a significant milestone in its global expansion efforts with the acquisition of a planning permit to construct a 150-MW solar plant, alongside an energy storage system, in the Australian state of Victoria.
This ambitious project stands as Elgin Energy's largest hybrid initiative to date, as highlighted in a recent social media update by the company.
The approval for the Elaine Solar Farm, complemented by a 250-MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), was granted on May 3 following a meticulous clearance process, with Urbis serving as Elgin's consultant.
Elgin Australia aims to bolster its presence in the region with a robust project pipeline exceeding 4 GW across the states of Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland, underscoring its commitment to driving sustainable energy solutions in Australia.
Earlier this year, Elgin Energy received development approval for a 60-MW solar project with a co-located BESS in Victoria, further solidifying its position as a key player in the country's renewable energy landscape.
