Turkish industrial holding company Yildirim's energy division has marked its foray into Kosovo's renewable energy sector with plans to construct a 109-MW solar farm in the municipality of Drenas.
Announcing its latest venture, Yildirim revealed that the future power-generating capacity will be integrated into its local ferronickel plant, underscoring the company's commitment to sustainable energy practices.
The project was unveiled during a groundbreaking ceremony attended by government officials, as well as representatives from local and international organizations, earlier in May.
“We are committed to making strategic investments across the country that align with Yildirim's global ESG objectives,” stated Robert Yuksel Yildirim, CEO of Yildirim Group, emphasizing the company's dedication to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.
Yildirim Energy specializes in energy supply, trading, and production, with operations spanning Turkey, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Albania. This expansion into Kosovo's renewables market highlights Yildirim's ongoing efforts to diversify its energy portfolio and contribute to the region's sustainable development.
