Foundation Installation Underway for Dogger Bank B Offshore Wind Project

Installation of turbine foundations has commenced on Dogger Bank B, an offshore wind project situated off the coast of the UK, marking a significant milestone in the project's development. 's specialized vessels, Seaway Strashnov and Seaway Alfa Lift, have initiated the installation process for monopile foundations and transition pieces for the second phase of the Dogger Bank project.

The recent completion of all 95 transition pieces for Dogger Bank A signifies the successful conclusion of foundation installation for the first phase of the project. The upcoming phase will see the deployment of 's 13MW Haliade-X turbines on the installed structures, manufactured by Sif and Smulders, and installed by tier one contractor Seaway7.

, Dogger Bank wind farm project director, expressed gratitude for the collective effort behind the project's milestones, stating, “These installation milestones are the result of years of commitment and diligence from the project team and its delivery partners.”

Wouter van Dalen, Seaway7 project director, highlighted the progress made in the foundation installation scope, underscoring the collaborative effort between Seaway7, Dogger Bank Wind Farm, and subcontractors.

A total of 277 monopiles and transition pieces will be installed across all three phases of the project, with completion expected by 2026. The project utilizes steel manufactured by Tata Steel in and processed in Corby and Hartlepool for the supporting components of the transition pieces, further showcasing the collaborative efforts of various companies involved in the project.

Designed in the UK by experts from , Dogger Bank Wind Farm's foundations have been optimized to address challenging wave loads in the North Sea's Dogger Bank area, with installation carried out in water depths of up to 32 meters and a minimum distance of 130km from shore.
