Jan De Nul Group Achieves Record Turnover of €2.9bn in 2023

-based maritime services provider, Group, has reported a record turnover of €2.9bn for the fiscal year 2023, according to the latest financial data released by the company. This milestone reflects a substantial increase in EBITDA, soaring by 39% to €610m, or 21% relative to turnover, culminating in a robust profit of €296m.

The company attributes this remarkable growth to a well-balanced approach across various innovative projects, showcasing the operational efficiency of its teams across all divisions. Despite prevailing economic and geopolitical uncertainties in numerous regions worldwide, Jan De Nul Group has managed to achieve commendable results.

“2023 marked a period of significant achievement for Jan De Nul Group, as evidenced by our record-breaking turnover and impressive profit margins,” stated a spokesperson for the company, highlighting the resilience and adaptability of its operational framework.

The year also witnessed the deployment of Jan De Nul's latest offshore installation vessels, Les Alizés and Voltaire, on their inaugural projects, further bolstering the company's capabilities in the offshore energy sector. Additionally, the company placed an order for the innovative XL cable-laying , the Fleeming Jenkin, signaling its commitment to technological advancement and operational excellence.

Looking ahead, Jan De Nul Group anticipates sustained growth momentum, commencing 2024 with an unprecedentedly high order book of €8.9bn, reflecting a substantial 38% increase compared to the previous year. These projects span across various divisions of the group, indicating a diverse and robust portfolio of upcoming endeavors.

Notably, 77% of Jan De Nul Group's turnover for 2023 was generated by its maritime divisions, underlining the pivotal role of its maritime operations in driving overall business performance.

The Jack-up installation vessel Voltaire is currently engaged in the transportation and installation of 277 turbines for the A, B, and C offshore wind farms, while the heavy lift vessel Les Alizés is undertaking the transport and installation of 107 foundations and an offshore substation in Germany for the and Borkum Riffgrund 3 projects.

During the summer months, the company achieved a significant milestone with the installation of a 33kV-interconnector cable in the Pentland Firth seaway, linking the Orkney island of Hoy with the Scottish mainland. The cable installation was facilitated by Jan De Nul's state-of-the-art trencher, Swordfish, and protected using rock bags deployed by the multipurpose vessel Adhémar de Saint-Venant.
