Valencia-based Biovic, a Grupo Gimeno company, has announced ambitious plans to invest approximately €400 million in new facilities by 2027, signaling a significant commitment to sustainable energy projects. The company, known for its innovative approach to converting waste into energy, recently completed projects valued at around €30 million in 2023, including the development of major biomethane plants across Spain.
Carlos Parrado, head of Agro business and R&D&I at Biovic, emphasized the company's use of advanced technologies to not only generate energy from waste but also to promote a circular bioeconomy. He stated, “At Biovic we use the most advanced technologies to transform waste into energy, but also to close the cycle of resource use through the creation of a high-quality organic fertilizer that returns essential nutrients to the soil.”
Luis Puchades, director of Biovic, highlighted the company's pioneering role in engineering projects focused on sustainability. He underscored the strategic importance of clean energies such as biomethane and biogas, stating, “We are pioneers in the development of this type of engineering projects. We have paved the way and continue to innovate… All this must be done in perfect harmony with our primary sector.”
Among Biovic's recent projects are biomethane plants like the Galivi project in Lorca (Murcia), the Granollers plant in Vallés Oriental, and the Biometano Montes de Toledo plant in Noez (Toledo). These projects contribute not only to energy production but also to the circular economy by producing compost alongside biomethane.
Additionally, Biovic's involvement in the Utiel project aligns with the Valencian Biogas Route, supporting the region's goal of constructing renewable gas plants to meet household energy needs sustainably.
With international experience spanning markets in Holland, Israel, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Latin America, Biovic has established itself as a key player in the field of sustainable energy. The company's portfolio includes upgrading plants and consulting projects, further solidifying its position as a leader in the industry.
