In a recent address at the third Tashkent International Investment Forum, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev articulated Uzbekistan's ambitious renewable energy targets, aiming to surpass 20 GW of capacity by the decade's end and elevate the renewable energy share to 40% of the nation's energy mix.
Highlighting the strides made, Mirziyoyev pointed out the inauguration of 1.4 GW of expansive wind and solar farms in 2023, with 28 additional projects currently underway. The President emphasized the collaborative efforts with renowned companies such as Masdar, Gezhouba, China Energy, and the initiation of a notable green hydrogen venture with ACWA Power.
He accentuated, “The most notable aspect is that these significant projects are being implemented based on public-private partnership and directly through foreign investments.”
In a forward-looking approach, Mirziyoyev announced the government's plans to propose joint ventures for constructing hydroelectric power stations in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan during the forum, signifying a commitment to regional energy cooperation.
