Renewable energy giant EDP Renovaveis, also known as EDP Renewables, has announced the successful commissioning of two solar parks in the Netherlands, marking a significant addition to its clean energy portfolio.
The newly operational solar parks, with a combined capacity of 25.6 MWp, represent a strategic expansion for EDP Renewables in the Dutch renewable energy market. The projects, known as the second phase of Berkelland and the Drachten project, were developed by Kronos Solar EDPR, a German company acquired by EDP Renewables in late 2022.
EDP Renewables estimates that these two solar parks will generate over 37 GWh of clean electricity annually, contributing significantly to the Dutch grid and providing sustainable energy solutions for more than 13,000 local homes.
“This milestone underscores our commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives in the Netherlands and beyond,” stated a spokesperson from EDP Renewables, emphasizing the company's dedication to driving clean energy transitions worldwide.
In the first quarter of 2024, EDP Renewables achieved notable success in Europe, generating 3.5 TWh of clean electricity from its diverse portfolio, boasting a total installed capacity exceeding 5.5 GW. The addition of these Dutch renewable assets further strengthens the company's position as a key player in the global renewable energy landscape.
