MacGregor Secures Contract for Eighth Successive Walk-to-Work Gangway Technology Installation for Edda Wind

, a subsidiary of , has secured another contract to provide walk-to-work gangway technology to . The contract, which was booked into Cargotec's 1Q23 orders, will equip the eighth service vessel in a row for the Group operation. The vessel is expected to be delivered in 3Q24.

The Horizon gangway, MacGregor's all- walk-to-work system, will be installed on the vessel. This sustainable technology delivers the lowest possible emissions, significantly reducing the vessel's environmental impact. The equipment also boasts a high level of redundancy, exceeding class requirements to minimize unplanned downtime.

The Horizon gangway offers the widest gangway bridge and the largest passenger lift currently available. The system's safety and efficiency are enhanced by an augmented reality operator station (AROS), which allows a single operator to seamlessly change between crane and gangway operation from a centralised control station on the vessel's bridge. The system is also interconnected to a Colibri 5 t 3D motion compensated crane, which compensates loads in 3D mode.

MacGregor's long-standing partnership with Edda Wind has resulted in this latest order. The company's early involvement in the design process has ensured that the equipment's position is optimised for overall vessel efficiency.
