Deutsche Windtechnik, a renowned player in wind energy services, has forged a strategic alliance with Meidensha Corporation, a prominent manufacturer of heavy-duty electrical equipment based in Japan. This collaboration aims to revolutionize Japan's onshore wind energy sector by introducing independent service provider (ISP) capabilities, marking a significant step towards reducing dependence on wind turbine manufacturers and enhancing industry efficiency.
The consultancy agreement between Deutsche Windtechnik and Meidensha signifies a joint commitment to bolstering Japan's onshore wind energy infrastructure, facilitating multi-brand wind farm maintenance, and fostering healthy competition within the industry. By establishing an ISP model, the two companies aim to introduce flexibility and drive sustainable growth in Japan's burgeoning renewable energy landscape.
Matthias Brandt, Director at Deutsche Windtechnik, highlighted the company's role in supporting Meidensha's ascent as a leading ISP in Japan, stating, “We support Meidensha to establish itself as the leading ISP in this emerging market. Our two decades of experience and in-depth know-how will enable Meidensha to build a powerful service infrastructure to provide first-class onshore services for wind farm operators in Japan.”
Under the partnership, Deutsche Windtechnik will leverage its expertise to advise Meidensha on establishing an independent onshore service infrastructure tailored to the Japanese market. This includes training qualified onshore wind turbine technicians and ensuring robust domestic field support, essential components for delivering superior service quality.
Furthermore, Deutsche Windtechnik will provide Meidensha with crucial spare parts, ranging from power electronics to large components, ensuring operational reliability and efficiency for wind farm operators across Japan.
Shinichiro Kon, Managing Executive Officer of the Meidensha Power Infrastructure Business Group, expressed optimism regarding the collaboration, stating, “We are very pleased to have concluded this consultancy agreement. With the strong support of Deutsche Windtechnik, we hope to become a leading onshore ISP contributing to the expansion of renewable energy in Japan.”
