Ethical Power Group has announced the acquisition of Gunning Transmission and Distribution Services Limited (GTDS), a specialist high voltage installation and commissioning provider. The acquisition marks a significant development for both companies, with Gordon Gunning stepping down from his role as managing director of GTDS following the transaction.
Established in 2004, GTDS offers turnkey installation and commissioning services across various voltage levels, ranging from 0.4kV to 400kV. Ethical Power Group specializes in solar PV projects and battery energy storage systems, having integrated its subsidiary ICP into the Group in 2023.
The decision to acquire GTDS comes after years of close collaboration between the two companies and is expected to facilitate the expansion of services while enhancing Ethical Power's position as a comprehensive solutions provider in the energy market.
Tom Kneen, Chief Executive of Ethical Power, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “This is a monumental step for both parties. We welcome the GTDS team into the Ethical Power Group and look forward to our continued collaboration, delivering highest quality solutions to the UK energy infrastructure.”
Under the terms of the acquisition, GTDS will continue to operate independently as a business, trading under its current name and reporting to the Ethical Power Group Board. Mark Winkles has been appointed as the new managing director for GTDS, expressing optimism about the future opportunities arising from the collaboration.
“We are delighted to become the latest member of the Ethical Power Group and are excited by the opportunities that our combined skills will certainly unlock,” said Winkles. “I am in no doubt that the future for GTDS and the wider Ethical Power Group is very bright indeed.”
