Nordic Solar, a industrial solar park developer in Europe, has announced a new agreement with Swedish solar park developer Helios Nordic Energy AB for the development of two new solar parks in Sweden. The parks will have a total capacity of 83 MWp and will add to the existing four parks jointly developed by the two companies, bringing the total to six parks with a combined capacity of slightly over 267 MWp.
The first of the new projects will be located near Örebro and is expected to have a capacity of 43 MWp, while the second project will be located in Gotland and will have a capacity of 40 MWp. Together, the two parks will produce enough electricity to power 11,500 Swedish households.
CEO of Nordic Solar, Nikolaj Holtet Hoff, expressed excitement about the new agreement, noting that Sweden is an important region for the development and production of solar energy. He also spoke about the company's ambitious plans for rapid progress in Sweden, saying that Nordic Solar's close collaboration with Helios Nordic Energy has enabled the company to maintain a fast pace.
The two new parks are expected to be operational in 2027 and 2028, respectively, while the four existing parks are expected to be operational between 2024 and 2026. Andreas Tunbjer, Managing Director of Helios Nordic Energy, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, saying that the two companies have a good, effective collaboration.
The expansion of solar parks in Sweden is part of a larger trend of increased investment in renewable energy. The demand for green energy is growing, not only in Sweden but throughout the Nordic countries. The development of new solar parks will help to accelerate the green transformation and reduce carbon emissions.
The two new parks will not only benefit the environment but also provide economic benefits for the local communities. Solar parks create job opportunities during the construction and operation phases and also generate revenue for local governments.
