Heerema Marine Contractors has inked reservation and preliminary work agreements with MFW Bałtyk II and MFW Bałtyk III, entities owned by Polenergia and Equinor, for the transportation and installation of wind turbine foundations and an offshore substation.
According to a stock exchange announcement by Polenergia, the Reservation Agreements entail parties' commitment to continue negotiations in good faith towards final agreements for the transport and installation of offshore wind turbine foundations and an offshore transformer station. This is contingent upon the Supplier reserving the availability of installation vessels for project implementation as per the envisaged schedule.
Cancellation of Reservation Agreements by the companies may incur charges, including remuneration for preliminary work performed, cancellation fees, and reservation fees to sub-suppliers. The potential cancellation fees for both projects could total around EUR 29.2 million. Should final agreements remain unsigned by July 1, 2024, similar fees may apply, although the deadline extension is a possibility.
The Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III projects, with a combined capacity of 1,440 MW, are set to feature 100 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-236 DD wind turbines installed on monopile foundations. Positioned 22 to 37 kilometres from the coastline near Ustka and Łeba in the Polish Baltic Sea, the projects aim to commence power generation as early as 2027, with commercial operations slated for a year later.
Equinor and Polenergia are concurrently advancing the Bałtyk I project, an offshore wind farm anticipated to yield up to 1,560 MW in capacity, as part of their broader offshore wind initiatives in the region.
