Italian energy and digital transition promoter, Redelfi SpA, has inked a deal with asset manager Anthilia Capital Partners SGR to borrow EUR 15 million (USD 16 million) for the development of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Italy.
According to Redelfi, the loan will be disbursed in two installments by February 2025, with semi-annual variable-rate interest payments. The repayment of the principal is scheduled to commence in December 2026.
The funds will be allocated towards advancing the BESS pipeline of Bright Storage, a joint venture (JV) between Redelfi and Italy-based Flash, a subsidiary of UK investor WRM Group.
The collaboration between Redelfi and Flash was initially announced in October 2023, leading to the establishment of Bright Storage SpA in February 2024. Per the agreement, Redelfi holds a controlling 51% stake in the JV, while Flash retains the remaining share. The primary objective of Bright Storage is to develop 2.8 gigawatts (GW) of standalone BESS projects across Italy.
