Portuguese renewable power company Finerge SA has struck a deal with Guild Investment Ltd to acquire stakes in eight wind parks across Portugal, according to reports from local media on Tuesday.
The acquisition will bolster Finerge's portfolio with an additional 162 MW of new capacity. The deal encompasses the purchase of 18.7% stakes in three wind farms—Ventominho, Arga, and Espiga—as well as a 15.9% stake in the Sao Paio wind farm. Together, these four wind farms boast a combined capacity of 353 MW.
In a further expansion move, Finerge is set to acquire a 50% stake in four additional wind farms—Arada, Montemuro, Pinheiro, and Cabril—located in Aveiro and Viseu. These wind parks collectively contribute 191 MW to the company's renewable energy portfolio.
Given Finerge's existing involvement in these wind farms and its management responsibilities, the latest agreement will grant the company full control over seven of the eight wind farms upon completion.
The finalization of the transaction is subject to approval by Portugal's Competition Authority (AdC). Once greenlit, the acquisition will propel Finerge's renewable installed capacity in the Iberian Peninsula to 2,133 MW, reinforcing its position as a key player in the region's renewable energy landscape.
Through strategic acquisitions and portfolio expansions, Finerge continues to advance its commitment to fostering sustainable energy solutions and contributing to the ongoing transition towards a greener and more resilient energy sector.
