Zoetis Inc, a leading US veterinary medicine producer, has inked a 12-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) to obtain 50 MW of renewable energy certificates (RECs) generated by the Heart of Texas wind farm.
The announcement, made on Thursday by Scout Clean Energy, the owner and operator of the wind farm, underscores Zoetis' commitment to sustainability and renewable energy integration.
Situated in McCulloch County, Texas, the 180-MW Heart of Texas wind farm represents a significant addition to the region's renewable energy infrastructure. Commissioned in 2020, the facility is a testament to Scout Clean Energy's dedication to advancing clean energy solutions.
The VPPA with Zoetis aligns with the company's ambitious target to achieve carbon neutrality in its operations by 2030. By acquiring RECs through this agreement, Zoetis reinforces its commitment to the RE100 initiative, a global campaign committed to transitioning to 100% renewable energy.
In a press release, Zoetis highlighted the significance of the VPPA in supporting its sustainability objectives and advancing its environmental stewardship initiatives.
Furthermore, Scout Clean Energy's partnership with Zoetis follows a recent VPPA agreement with AdventHealth, a US-based nonprofit healthcare organization, for a 90-MW portion of the Heart of Texas wind farm. This demonstrates Scout Clean Energy's continued efforts to collaborate with industry leaders in driving the adoption of renewable energy solutions.
