Gransolar and Vena Energy’s 125MW Solar Project in Queensland, Australia, Goes Operational

and Vena Energy have announced that their 125MW project, the Solar Project – Wandoan, in , , has entered commercial operation. The project is part of the Wandoan South Project, a 1GW multi-stage renewable energy development in the Western Downs local government area.

Situated in the Darling Downs region, 400 km northwest of Brisbane, the Amazon Solar Project – Wandoan is poised to significantly contribute to Queensland's renewable energy transition while supplying renewable energy to local communities.

Construction of the Amazon Solar Project – Wandoan began in May 2022, and by May 2023, it had reached 99% mechanical and electrical completion. Owen Sela, Head of Australia at Vena Energy, highlighted the project's positive impact on employment, stating, “The construction of this project has supported over 200 jobs and hosted a diverse workforce from across the State, including the direct involvement of the local community, accounting for more than 30% of the total workforce during the initial phase of the construction programme.”

Jose Miguel Plaza, country manager of Gransolar in Australia, expressed pride in the project's success, stating, “We are extremely proud to have participated with Vena Energy in this project, a new milestone in the green transition being undertaken in Australia, which is especially remarkable in Queensland.”

With the commercial operation of the Amazon Solar Project – Wandoan, Gransolar has now commissioned 1GW across 10 large projects in Australia, with 900MW under operation, 1GW of projects under development, and 900MW under construction that is expected to be operational in 2024.
