SSE Renewables Selects Morrison Energy Services and Sungrow for 320MW Battery Project in UK

has announced the selection of and as partners for its upcoming 320MW battery project in Monk Fryston, north Yorkshire, UK.

Morrison Energy Services, a division of M Group Services' Energy Division, will serve as the principal contractor for the Monk Fryston battery system (BESS). Sungrow, a key partner in SSE Renewables' Ferrybridge battery storage project, will once again supply the battery energy storage system.

The Monk Fryston BESS is part of SSE Renewables' commitment to supporting the UK's net zero goals. The company made a final investment decision on the project in November 2023, with plans to energize the site in late 2025.

Projects like our battery storage facility at Monk Fryston are crucial in reaching the UK's net zero goals and being able to harness the abundance of energy generated from our existing renewables portfolio.”

Donnie Whyte, Managing Director at Morrison Energy Services, highlighted the project's significance for their business, saying, “This project represents a significant progression for our business in the renewables sector as part of our overall strategy supporting the UK's journey to net zero.”
