Nelnet Renewable Energy Shifts Focus to Commercial Solar Projects

Nelnet , a subsidiary of Nelnet, has announced its decision to transition its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) operations from residential to commercial markets. The shift comes in response to challenging regulatory and economic conditions within the residential solar sector.

The company will discontinue its residential solar operations and concentrate exclusively on constructing and developing commercial solar projects, with a particular focus on the Midwest and regions. Currently, has approximately 15 projects under construction, averaging 4 MW in size.

Nelnet Renewable Energy specializes in financing, developing, deploying, and operating clean energy solutions. Following the in 2022, the company completed the integration of EPC contractor GRNE Solar.

“Nelnet is committed to being an industry-leading commercial solar EPC contractor and consultant with resources, knowledge, and people to deliver high-quality projects and solutions for our customers,” stated Nelnet's CFO, Jim Kruger.
