French renewable power plants operator Voltalia SA has successfully raised EUR 4 million (USD 4.2m) from a crowdfunding campaign supporting its 23.6-MW Sud Vannier wind farm in Grand-Est, located in the North-East of France.
The crowdfunding initiative, launched at the beginning of this year, targeted residents of the departments of Haute-Marne and Haute-Saone, as well as Voltalia employees residing in France, the company announced on Monday.
Situated approximately 25 km (15.5 miles) southeast of Langres, in the department of Haute-Marne, the Sud Vannier wind farm commenced operations a year ago. The facility operates under a 23-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Leroy Merlin, a leading home improvement retailer. The agreement covers the entire output of the wind farm, supplying Leroy Merlin with 60 GWh of electricity annually.
Sud Vannier represents Voltalia's inaugural wind farm in the Grand Est region. Construction of the plant commenced in the summer of 2022, with the first power being fed into the grid in February last year.
