Atlantic Green Energizes 30MW Battery Energy Storage System in Derbyshire

has announced the energization of its 30MW Buxton system (BESS) in Derbyshire, . The BESS, with a capacity of 61.8MWh, is designed to provide sustained power output for up to two hours during peak energy demand periods.

The Buxton BESS project is the first of several planned by Atlantic Green, with a total capacity of over 1GWh currently in its development pipeline. Other projects include the Cellarhead BESS, with a capacity of over 600MWh, and Project T, with an approximate capacity of 270MWh.

Atlantic Green, a joint venture between Nofar Energy and Interland, aims to contribute to improving grid stability and promoting a greener and more sustainable energy future. Managing director Nick Bradford expressed his enthusiasm for the Buxton BESS project, stating, “We are delighted to announce the energisation of our Buxton BESS Project. Buxton BESS will contribute to improving grid stability and pave the way for a greener and more sustainable energy future. We take pride in contributing to Derbyshire's efforts in tackling climate challenges and supporting the UK in reaching its net zero targets, ensuring energy security for the future.”
