Renewable energy company Nordex has landed a significant 80MW turbine order for a wind power project in Turkey. The agreement, announced today, involves the supply of 14 N163/5.X turbines for the Pelit project, developed by Borusan EnBW Enerji in Turkey's Sivas province.
In addition to supplying the turbines, Nordex will also provide servicing for these units over a 10-year period. This order comes after Borusan EnBW Enerji's previous order of 36MW from Nordex for the Balabanli Extension 2 wind farm in December 2023, which included six N163/5.X turbines.
The Pelit wind farm project is situated on a mountain ridge approximately 20 km northwest of the Sivas Gurun district. Nordex plans to install a cold climate version of its turbines, mounted on tubular steel towers with hub heights reaching 108 meters.
Borusan EnBW Enerji has also opted for the Nordex Advanced Anti-icing System to reduce ice formation on the rotor blades of the turbines. Nordex is set to deliver and install the six N163/5.X turbines for the Balabanli Extension 2 project near Tekirdag in the Thrace region of Turkey later this year.
Ender Ozatay, Managing Director of Nordex Turkey, expressed pride in the partnership with Borusan EnBW Enerji, stating, “As the market leader since 2017, the Nordex Group is proud to partner once again with Borusan EnBW Enerji, the second biggest investor in installed capacity in Turkey.”
Enis Amasyalı, General Manager of Borusan EnBW Enerji, highlighted the significance of these projects in advancing renewable energy infrastructure in Turkey, stating, “Borusan EnBW Enerji is excited to embark on these transformative wind energy projects that signify our dedication to advancing renewable energy infrastructure in Turkey.”
He added, “These two projects increase our installed power from renewable energy to 934MW.”
