Portuguese renewables company EDP Renovaveis SA (EDPR) has been granted consent and a construction permit to develop an onshore wind farm with a capacity of 15.825 megawatts (MW) in the Spanish region of Galicia.
The approval was issued through a resolution published on Friday in the region's official gazette.
According to the resolution, EDPR's Spanish unit has allocated a budget of approximately EUR 13.6 million (USD 14.7 million) for the execution of the project in A Coruna province, located in northwestern Spain.
The wind farm, known as Alto Torreiro, will be equipped with two 6.6 MW turbines and one 2.625 MW turbine, all supplied by Siemens Gamesa. It is estimated to generate around 49 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually.
