Northland Power, a leading sustainable power producer, announced that its president and chief executive officer, Mike Crawley, will be stepping down from his role after six years. Crawley will continue with Northland until 30 September 2024, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership.
John Brace, chair of Northland's board of directors, has been appointed executive chair and will serve as a bridge between Crawley and the next president and chief executive officer during the transition period. Brace brings extensive experience to the role, having previously served as Northland's chief executive from 2003 to 2018, overseeing the company's expansion into offshore wind and onshore renewables.
Ian Pearce, chair of Northland's governance and nominating committee, has been appointed lead independent director, further strengthening the board's leadership during this transition phase.
Brace expressed gratitude for Crawley's leadership, stating, “Mike led Northland through a period of dynamic growth, forging strategic partnerships in core markets and expanding the company's development pipeline. Northland is in a strong position thanks to Mike's successful execution of our growth plan.”
With Northland's growth targets secured through 2027 and major construction projects progressing as planned, the company has initiated a global search for a new leader to guide its continued growth.
Brace commented on the transition, saying, “After a number of productive discussions between Mike, myself, and the Board, we have agreed that this is an opportune time, with Northland in a strong position, to transition to new leadership. We will continue to deliver against the strategy and near-term priorities presented at our recent investor day.”
Construction at Northland's Hai Long, Baltic Power, and Oneida projects is progressing as planned, and the company's financial guidance and outlook remain unchanged.
The transition plan ensures a seamless change in leadership at Northland Power, positioning the company for continued success in the renewable energy sector.
