The 640MW Yunlin offshore wind project in Taiwan has resumed installation activities, marking the start of the 2024 installation campaign. Skyborn Renewables, the developer, confirmed that the season's first monopile was installed just days ago.
According to Skyborn Renewables, the project is a top priority, and the foundations work will continue over the coming months. The project, located in the Taiwan Strait, is crucial for Taiwan's renewable energy goals and will deliver electricity under two 20-year power purchase agreements. Once completed, the Yunlin project will power over 600,000 Taiwanese households.
“Yunlin is already a vital contributor, having fed over 1.1TWh of renewable energy into the grid,” stated the developer.
The dedicated project team and contractors are working at full pace to meet the scheduled targets and complete all installations of monopile foundations, inner array grid, and wind turbine generators during 2024. The project's progress signifies a significant step forward for Taiwan's renewable energy ambitions and the continued growth of offshore wind in the region.
