Renewables pure-player EEW Eco Energy World (EEW) from the UK has joined forces with Spanish engineering and construction company Grupo Cobra to collaborate on a solar-plus-storage project in Queensland, Australia.
EEW announced on Thursday that the partnership aims to develop a 200-MWdc solar farm integrated with a 50-MW battery energy storage system (BESS).
The project is on track to achieve ready-to-build status in 2024, marking a significant step towards enhancing Australia's renewable energy infrastructure.
Once operational, the solar-BESS facility is projected to generate over 400 GWh of electricity, contributing significantly to the region's renewable energy capacity.
“We are pleased to announce the collaboration on this project with Grupo COBRA; we have a long successful presence in Australia, and this is one of the projects out of our multi-GW pipeline in the country, which matures currently,” said Svante Kumlin, CEO of EEW.
